Term 1 2026 - message from our Principal, Vanessa Willetts
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back! On behalf of all the staff at Queanbeyan High School we are excited to greet our students and families as we begin a fresh and promising school year together. Our focus this year is on working hand in hand with you to support every student in achieving their learning goals and developing meaningful pathways for their future.
The first day of school is Monday, 2 February, with roll call commencing at 9:00 am. We warmly invite our Year 7 parents and carers to bring their children a little earlier—around 8:30 am—for a special photo opportunity in front of our new school social media banner. It’s a great chance to capture memories as your child embarks on this important new chapter.
For new students in years 8 to 11 please come to the front office at 9am.
For your convenience, the canteen will be open on the first day. We are also pleased to offer a free sausage sizzle to welcome everyone back and celebrate the start of the year.
Students in Years 7 and 8 will receive their books on the first day to help them get a head start on their learning materials.
Looking ahead, our annual Swimming Carnival will be held on Thursday, 5 February. This is a normal school day, and attendance is mandatory for all students, even if they choose not to participate in the swimming activities. The carnival is a wonderful opportunity for students to connect, enjoy friendly competition, and build school spirit.
We also want to highlight the importance of our first Parent-Teacher Evening this term. It’s a perfect occasion to drop in, meet your child’s teachers, and engage directly with the people supporting your child’s learning journey.
We are looking forward to a positive and productive year ahead, working closely with you to ensure every student thrives.
Thank you for your ongoing support!
